In March 2005 Shihad approached Mark Albiston to pitch an idea for a video for their single "All The Young Fascists", to be released in conjunction with their brand new album, Love Is The New Hate, the following month.

Mark's concept was to use insects in a music video to incorporate an experience Shihad went through in the US. The band were duped into performing a concert for soldiers in the US Army. Shihad wrote "All The Young Fascists" as a reaction to their experience with the US Military, and it soon became apparent Mark saw the effectiveness in using a praying mantis to symbolise the band's story.

Mark enlisted the assistance of documentary photographer Aaron Beck, Entomologist Rudy Schnitzler from Victoria University and six praying mantis insects, a crew of 15 and the band.
